A Words about our Jefferson Street Billboard

A Word about our Jefferson Street Billboard
Our “His Votes. Our DeFicit” billboard, right across the street from Rep. Cline’s Roanoke Office, is our way of getting the Congressman’s attention.
DoGood Virginia’s main focus is to promote donations of time, talent, and treasure to the agencies and organizations that provide services and assistance to citizens in need. In other words, we strive to help the helpers.
When we saw our Rep. Ben Cline enthusiastically support Elon Musk and DOGE as they slashed the appropriated federal dollars slated for our region, we were alarmed. These cuts had an immediate effect on the many agencies we have been striving to help. The full impact of these drastic cuts has yet to be felt.
Then, on July 3, when we watched Rep. Ben Cline happily vote for the “Big Beautiful Bill” we realized how fully disconnected he is from the needs of his district and constituents. https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/ben_cline/412832/report-card/2024
This bill cuts Medicaid dollars, SNAP benefits, and Education funds that will stress even further the resources, human and financial, that have provided the vitally needed services that keep our communities healthy.
Opportunities to meet with Rep. Ben Cline with our concerns have been increasingly restrictive. He has offered no town hall meetings. And instead of substantive answers to our written questions and calls, he consistently sends hollow form-letters filled with political pablum.
The Jefferson Street Billboard is our way of directly responding to Rep. Cline’s votes, his failure to listen, and refusal to answer questions.
